The man who accidentally shot himself with a .22 caliber handgun early Thursday morning in his home on Pearl Street was charged today with falsely reporting an incident and three other charges.
Shawn T. Noisette, 28, of Pearl Street was also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges are all misdemeanors.
Noisette originally told police that he was a victim of a robbery on Waterbury Street at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, city police said in a statement.
Police first investigated the shooting as an armed robbery but during the course of the investigation it was determined there was no robbery and that Noisette allegedly shot himself while in his house getting ready for work. Noisette is scheduled to appear in city court on Thursday.
