The Schenectady Armory is back on the auction block.

The state Office of General Services, which owns the 65,000-square-foot structure at 125 Washington Ave., confirmed that it will be auctioned on July 24 at 11 a.m. at Schenectady City Hall. Agency spokeswoman Heather Groll said the minimum bid has been lowered from $395,000 to $180,000.

“We’re hoping that this will help generate interest and get the property back on the tax rolls,” she said.

The property has been vacant since the summer of 2008 when the New York National Guard moved to a new headquarters in Latham.

Open houses will soon be scheduled and announced on the OGS website at properties.esd.ny.gov.

An auction that had been scheduled in May of last year did not happen after there were no registered bidders. Groll said there has been some ongoing interest, especially with new development in the area such as Schenectady County Community College’s student housing next door.
