Four young vandals who caused damage at a Schenectady County Community College construction site have been apprehended.
The Schenectady Police Department’s Youth Aid Division arrested one 12-year-old and three 13-year-olds in connection with the vandalism, which occurred between May 21 and May 30.
The vandals broke into the fenced-off site where BCI Construction Inc. is building a 12,000-square-foot addition to serve as a new music wing at the college. Damage included several panes of shattered glass. The windshield of a company backhoe and windows on a forklift were also broken.
Damage was estimated to total at least $5,000, according to BCI Construction project superintendent Troy Cochran.
The vandals were charged with criminal mischief, burglary and criminal trespass.
The names of the juveniles will not be released due to their age. All are scheduled to appear in family court next week.
