Police say a dump truck has collided with an ATV, killing a teen boy and the girl he was riding with.
Schoharie County Sheriff Anthony Desmond says the 16-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were riding in a field at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when they rolled out onto State Route 30 into the path of the truck.
The accident happened in Gilboa, 40 miles southwest of Schenectady.
Desmond says the victims were treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where they died.
He says the boy was from North Blenheim and the girl from Gilboa. Their names will be released after relatives are notified.
The truck driver was not injured and has not been charged.
Desmond says state police are helping investigate the accident.
