Five new city police recruits are set to be sworn in Tuesday morning, police said.
The recruits are to be sworn in at a ceremony at City Hall, then enter the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy Wednesday for six months of basic training.
After the training, the new officers are to undergo 12 weeks of department-supervised field training.
These five recruits follow eight city recruits who graduated as officers Friday from the most recent academy class.
The new recruits are:
Duane D. Bechand, 34, of Schenectady. Bechand went to Mohonasen High School and attended Schenectady County Community College, receiving an associate’s degree in business administration.
Bradley R. Carlton, 24, of Schenectady. Carlton graduated from Mohonasen High School with an advanced regents diploma. He also holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science after attending St. John Fisher College outside Rochester.
Michael V. Gailor, 27, currently of Saratoga Springs. Gailor is a 2003 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and has an associate’s in applied science degree in criminal justice.
Jared M. Jupin, 25, of Schenectady. Jupin is as 2005 graduate of Shaker High School and has a bachelor of arts degree in psychology after attending the University at Albany.
Teodoro Popolizio, 27, of Schenectady. Popolizio is a 2003 graduate of Niskayuna High School. He also holds a bachelor of science degree in physical education from SUNY Brockport.
