A man outside the Nickelback concert Tuesday evening was injured falling down an embankment.
Kevin Beaudette, 22, of Tupper Lake, slipped down a 40-foot gorge around 9:45 p.m. after a Saratoga Performing Arts Center security officer shone a light on him through the fence separating SPAC from the rest of the state park, said parks spokesman Dan Keefe.
State park police and Saratoga Springs firefighters rescued Beaudette from the gorge, Keefe said. The man suffered multiple bruises and scrapes and was taken to Saratoga Hospital and then transferred to Albany Medical Center for observation overnight. He was released this morning.
Beaudette was not charged with any crime. Keefe said alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
The gorge carries Geyser Brook through Saratoga Spa State Park and separates the SPAC parking lot on Route 50 from the park and the venue. Beaudette was south of the pedestrian bridge that crosses into the venue, SPAC officials said.
Officials don’t know whether he was trying to sneak into the concert over the fence or not, but that is a spot that is on the security officers’ radar, Keefe said.
“It was an area that’s an issue.”
SPAC’s classical season resumes tonight with The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performing at 8 p.m.
