A new Lia auto dealership will be opening in Colonie as the Lia Auto Group integrates the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram into its current roster of 12 vehicle brands.
“This new dealership will open in a temporary showroom with a full-time staff of around 20 people,” said Michael Lia of the Lia Auto Group in a press release. “Once the new facility opens in 2013, we expect a full-time staff of over 40 people.”
The temporary facility will open in September at the existing Lia Collision Center on 2116 Central Ave. in Colonie. The new dealership is planned to be built east of the current Lia Toyota Colonie installation. The proposed dealership plans include several parking lot expansions, such as an expansion in the front east corner of the property, in the rear lot of Lia Toyota, and the possibility of a parking deck being built.
“We are excited about the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram brands,” said Lia. “The existing models — with the many improvements in this and previous years across the four brands — show growth and promise. We were impressed with the direction of their vehicle strategy and we feel that they will continue to be strong players in the American automotive market.”
In acknowledgement of the Lia Auto Group’s interest, Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram sent them a letter of intent on May 2, 2012.
Lia’s acquisition of the new brand coincides with the addition of a Kia franchise in Northampton, Mass., and a renovation of an existing Hyundai dealership in Hartford, Conn.
