More than 1,000 demonstrators have marched to the state Capitol to demand that Gov. Andrew Cuomo ban shale gas drilling and high-volume hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.”

Some of the protesters at today’s rally carried a large cardboard likeness of Cuomo with an angel and devil on his shoulders to represent the opposing viewpoints of drilling opponents and industry supporters.

Cuomo is expected to decide in coming weeks whether to allow fracking after the Department of Environmental Conservation completes a four-year review of health and environmental impacts.
