A man was stabbed to death overnight on Van Vranken Avenue and his girlfriend has been charged in his death, police said.
Killed was Adrian L. King, 51, of 1512 Van Vranken Ave., Apt. 1. Held in his death is his girlfriend, Jacqueline M. Smalls, 49, also of that address.
Police were called to the apartment just after 11 p.m. Sunday after a 911 call reporting a man stabbed in the chest.
Officers arrived and found King bleeding from an apparent stab wound to his chest, police said. King was treated and taken to Ellis Hospital, but he later died from his wounds.
Smalls was arrested a short time later. She faces one count of first-degree manslaughter and is being held for arraignment.
The incident remains under investigation. Police did not immediately say what they believe led up to the stabbing.
