One of two men convicted in a bloody January 2011 home invasion that left three people with stab wounds was sentenced today to 24 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors said the sentence for 32-year-old Luvadollar Godallah reflected both the act and his lengthy criminal history. His criminal history resulted in him being judged a violent persistent felon, allowing for the sentence of up to life.
Prosecutors said Godallah and James Tedischi invaded a Guilderland Avenue on Jan. 26, 2011, in a bid for drugs and money. Anthony J. Nieves sustained multiple stab wounds, while his girlfriend Melissa Columbus, 24, and her brother, Brad, 25, were also stabbed.
Melissa Columbus’ young son was also in the home, but was not injured, though, Godallah was accused of threatening that if Columbus didn’t comply with his demands, the child would be harmed.
Godallah was convicted after trial in March of first-degree burglary and first-degree assault, but was acquitted on robbery counts.
Tedeschi pleaded guilty to attempted robbery earlier and testified at Godallah’s trial. Tedischi is to be sentenced next month to up to 10 years in prison.
