Schenectady police are at the scene of two incidents on State Street, a stabbing and an assault, one of which has a portion of the busy thoroughfare closed while police investigate.
The stabbing was reported just before 9 p.m. tonight by someone who walked into the Mohawk Ambulance Service office at State and Mynderse streets, according to police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing and emrgency radio transmissions.
Police responded to 812 State St., less than a block from the ambulance service, Dearing said. It was unclear exactly how that address was connected to the stabbing.
Minutes later, shortly after 9 p.m., police were called to the scene of an assault in the area of 1255 State St., Dearing said.
That investigation prompted police to close State Street between Division and Elm streets as the investigation continued. It was unclear how long the stretch would be closed.
Further details on both incidents were not available, including the conditions of those injured.
