WEBB — Authorities say an 88-year-old central New York man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on an Adirondack road.

Police in the northern Herkimer County town of Webb say that William S. Calli Sr. of Utica was driving his sport utility vehicle on Route 28 Monday afternoon when he began swerving and crashed into a pickup truck a few miles south of the village of Old Forge.

Calli was taken to a Syracuse hospital, where he died soon after arrival.

The 51-year-old man driving the pickup was treated at a Utica hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Calli was a well-known Utica attorney. The Observer-Dispatch of Utica reports that he served in the state Assembly in the 1960s.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
