More than $800,000 is going to the Schenectady County Airport in Glenville to improve runway infrastructure.
U.S. senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that $815,425 in funds will be made available for the airport through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administraiton’s Airport Improvement Program.
The funding will be used to improve runway safety by rehabilitating the current runway, which has deteriorated in recent years, and to help the airport run efficiently.
Schumer said the funds will ensure access to the region, and Gillibrand said the investment could help strengthen the local economy.
