An 11-screen Bow Tie Cinema will open in the former Price Chopper Supermarket at Railroad Place and Church Street in the spring of 2013, a company official said Tuesday.
Bonacio Construction is reconfiguring the old market at 19 Railroad Place and turning it into a three-story building.
Bow Tie Cinema will locate its theaters on the 34,000-square-foot first floor, including one of its large format BTX (extreme) theaters with a nearly 2,000 square-foot screen and a 30,000 watt digital sound system, said Joseph Masher of Bow Tie Cinemas. The BTX cinema will also have leather rocking seats.
Bow Tie Cinemas also has a six-screen theater complex on State Street in Schenectady.
The upper two floors of the building will include office space. The entire complex is expected to be ready by late spring, said Larry Novik, operations director for Bonacio Construction of Saratoga Springs.
