A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday for the new Target opening on Route 50. Target employees and their families and selected guests will get a sneak preview of the store following the 5 p.m. ceremony. The 135,000-square-foot facility opens to the public Wednesday, with its official grand opening Sunday.

The store will feature an expanded selection of grocery items, including fresh produce, meats and bakery items, along with a pharmacy and Starbuck’s.

Construction started last September following the demolition of the vacant Kmart plaza, which had been vacant since 2006. Target is expected to hire for 200 open positions.

Work is expected to begin shortly on another tenant for the plaza, Panera Bread, which will occupy a 3,800-square-foot building.

No other tenants have been announced for about 32,000 square feet of retail space located next to Target that can be subdivided for a dozen or so tenants.
