UPDATE: Hamilton Hill shooting victim identified

Police have identified the victim of Friday’s fatal shooting in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.

Charles Bowman, 43, of Schenectady, was shot multiple times just before 2:30 p.m. in the area of 425 Schenectady St. near Van Voast Street. He received treatment at the scene by the Schenectady Fire Department, but later succumbed to his wounds at Ellis Hospital.

The suspect, 28-year-old Terell Bethea, was arraigned this morning by the sitting city judge and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail without bail, according to a police release issued today. He will appear in court again Tuesday.

Bethea was apprehended quickly after the shooting. He was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said the attempted murder charge has since been upgraded to second-degree murder.

There are no further details at this time, according to police.
