Supporters of natural gas drilling in New York will rally at the state Capitol.

Organizers say hundreds of farmers, workers, home owners, small business owners and elected officials will come to Albany on Monday to press Gov. Andrew Cuomo to lift the state’s moratorium on shale gas drilling.

Cuomo has been under pressure from environmentalists who are opposed to shale gas development using hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.” Opponents fear the process will pollute local water tables.

But many people in gas-rich regions of upstate New York say drilling would bring desperately needed jobs.
