Two arrested in alleged illegal poker game in Saratoga Springs

Police have arrested two men for allegedly running an illegal poker game.

On Oct. 5, members of the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit, State Police Troop G in Saratoga and the Saratoga Springs Police Department obtained a warrant and searched 77 Van Dam St, Room 14 in Saratoga Springs. They seized about $3,000 in cash, poker chips, playing cards and poker tables.

The search warrant was the culmination of a two-month-long investigation by state police into an illegal Texas Hold’em poker game taking place on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Arrested for promoting gambling in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, were 44-year Joseph F. McTiernan of St. Johns Drive in Gansevoort and 27-year old Arthur S. Wexler Jr. of Tanager Way in South Glens Falls.

Both defendants were issued tickets to appear on Oct. 22 at 9:00 a.m. at the Saratoga Springs City Court.
