A Schenectady man was shot fatally outside a bar on Hamilton Hill early Saturday morning.
George C. Lloyd III, 24, was shot multiple times outside of The Mason’s Club on 548 Schenectady St., shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, according to police. He was transported to the emergency room at Ellis Hospital, where he was treated and then pronounced dead.
Officers received multiple 911 calls but the victim was gone when they reached the scene. Police were notified that Lloyd had been brought to the hospital in a private vehicle.
Schenectady Police Department Lt. Mark McCracken was unable to provide details on where the victim was hit and said that there were no suspects as of Saturday evening.
He said the shooting didn’t appear to be a drive-by, but wouldn’t comment on how many people were outside the club at the time of the shooting, or whether officials had spoken to the driver who brought Lloyd to the hospital.
In 2011, Lloyd was shot in the leg while standing in a crowd outside Joe’s Bar at 1306 Fifth Ave. In that early morning shooting, he was one of three people shot, including 23-year-old Rashad Robinson, who died. Rodney Davis, 22, of Brooklyn, was indicted earlier this month for that shooting.
Police said on Saturday night they were investigating whether those two shootings were connected.
Lloyd’s case is under investigation by detectives and the evidence collection unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the investigators at 382-5245 or the tips line at 788-6566.
