Rotterdam police seeking Five Corners serial flasher

Businesses at Rotterdam’s Five Corners intersection have been getting unwelcome visits from a guy who seems more than willing to bare it all.

Rotterdam police are trying to track down a man in his 30s who has approached women at three business on five separate occasions and exposed himself. Lt. Michael Brown said the man, who is of medium build with blond hair and blue eyes, has been visiting the businesses during the early morning hours since July.

Earlier this month, the man approached the drive-thru window at the McDonald’s on Curry Road, tapped on the window to get the female worker’s attention, pulled his pants to his ankles and then proceeded to perform a lewd act on himself. Brown said the instance is identical to acts the same person performed at the nearby Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru window on Broadway and outside a doctor’s office last year.

“Every incident is happening in the early morning hours,” Brown said. “Every victim has given us the same description.”

The only time the flasher changed his tactics was during a visit to the McDonald’s in August, Brown said. On that occasion, the man entered the restaurant through a side door, went to the bathroom to remove his pants and then walked by a pair of teenage girls while he was naked from the waist down.

The girls quickly alerted a manager at the restaurant, but the seminude man had already fled on foot, pants clutched in his hands.

The incident was caught by the dining room’s security video, but the footage is too grainy to identify the flasher.

Brown indicated the man hasn’t said anything to the people he has approached or touched them. He said the suspect doesn’t resemble any registered sex offenders in the town.

The intersection is located just a half-mile from where a local firefighter was accused of performing lewd acts in the window of his home when a young Gazette carrier approached the residence to drop off his newspaper. George Hughes of Paul Avenue was charged with several counts of child endangerment for allegedly exposing himself to the 13-year-old girl on three occasions in January.

Brown said the incidents are not related. He said the suspect in the Five Corners cases doesn’t match Hughes’ description.

Brown said the suspect either lives in the area or parks a car near the intersection. Investigators are asking anyone with information about these incidents to contact them at 355-7397.
