Tom Mailey, the former television newsman who has been a spokesman for Stewart’s Shops for the past five years, is leaving Stewart’s for a job in state government.
Mailey said Monday he is going to be a public information officer for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision with offices located on the Harriman State Campus in Albany.
He said he enjoyed working for Stewart’s and learned a great deal during his tenure there. He called his move to state government a “big opportunity.” He will be leaving Stewart’s Shops in two weeks.
Mailey was a reporter and meteorologist with News Channel 6 for nearly 20 years before coming to Stewart’s.
