Members of the New York State Police dive team are taking a plunge in the icy waters of an Adirondack lake.
State police officials say the divers from across New York are conducting training exercises Thursday on Lake George, 50 miles north of Albany.
It’s part of the unit’s annual three-week training for winter waterway operations such as rescues and recoveries. Veterans and new members of the team will be getting instruction under and on top of the ice on Lake George.
The divers will be using different types of sonar, work on search and recovery skills using lift bags, and practice surface ice rescues.
