Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire early this afternoon on Rice Road in Rotterdam.
The fire appeared to cause extensive damage to the home, with flames shooting out of the roof. The home is located at 38 Rice Road, at the corner of Rice and Schermerhorn roads.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from nearby Interstate 890.
Firefighters from several departments responded. No injuries were immediately reported. The fire was called in around 11:30 a.m.
The fire had Rice Road blocked north of Interstate 890, as well Schermerhorn Road blocked short of Rice Road.
