More than 1.5 million riders boarded the rapid transit bus to travel between Schenectady and Albany on Route 5 last year, according to the Capital District Transportation Authority.
BusPlus celebrates its second anniversary this month by becoming the “most popular route in our system,” said CDTA chairwoman Denise Figueroa.
BusPlus ridership represents 10 percent of the 15.5 million trips taken on CDTA buses last year.
And nearly 4 million riders take a CDTA bus — BusPlus or a regular bus — on Route 5 every year.
“CDTA’s Bus Rapid Transit service has heightened awareness of public transit benefits and opened the door to new business partnerships that get people to work, all while helping drive the Capital Region economy forward,” Figueroa said.
