A Lake George man was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for trying to rob a Wilton liquor store in November.

Yvon Majeus Jr., 36, pleaded guilty April 11 to third-degree attempted robbery and was sentenced at the same time.

In November, state police said Majeus led police on a high-speed chase through Wilton after a trooper drove by as Majeus was walking into a liquor store on Route 9 with the intent to rob it, though he didn’t get any money.

The trooper saw a vehicle pulled off to the side of the road and a man trying to cover his face as he walked into the store, police said then. The officer pulled into the parking lot and got out of the cruiser as the store owner ran screaming from the store.

Majeus fled before he was able to complete the robbery, jumping into his car and driving away, police said. The trooper chased him on Route 9, Northern Pines Road, Traver Road, Ballard Road and back to Northern Pines, at times reaching 100 mph, police said.

Eventually, Majeus abandoned his car and ran, and troopers caught him near Route 9 north of Ballard Road.
