Angry driver accused of attacking Schenectady High teenager

A Clifton Park man driving past Schenectady High School on Tuesday morning suddenly stopped his car, jumped out and attacked a student, police and school officials said.

The driver, Ulysses Wynn, allegedly choked the 17-year-old girl and pushed her into a moving school bus.

The incident happened after students outside the school shouted at Wynn to slow down, police said.

The student wasn’t injured in the incident, officials said, but students with her took down Wynn’s license plate number. He was later tracked down in Clifton Park and arrested.

During the attack, another student came to the girl’s aid by pulling the man off her, police said.

Wynn, 52, of 120 Mohawk Terrace, Clifton Park, now faces one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, as well as two counts of harassment, a violation.

The incident began at 8:18 a.m. as Wynn drove past the high school, police said. As he drove by, several students shouted at him to slow down.

He was driving erratically, police said, though no charges were leveled for his driving. State Department of Motor Vehicles records show he has a valid license.

After the shouts, police said, Wynn responded by getting out of his car and running over to the girl. He allegedly asked if she was the one who had shouted at him. Then he grabbed her by the throat, police said.

Wynn is accused of then pushing her backward and into a moving school bus. Paperwork indicates she made contact with the bus, but police, in a news release, only said she was pushed toward the bus. Wynn also is accused of slapping her.

After the second student got Wynn off the girl, Wynn fled, police said. He was soon arrested.

School spokeswoman Karen Corona said other students quickly intervened.

“Another student jumped in to try to get him away from the group of girls he was attacking. Students got the license plate number. Then he got back in his car and drove away,” Corona said.

Corona said Wynn did not appear to have any affiliation with the school — he was just driving by.

The student did not seek medical attention.

Wynn faces one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, accused of pushing the teen into the moving school bus, creating “a substantial risk of serious physical injury to the victim,” court paperwork reads.

One of the two counts of harassment relate to allegations he grabbed her by the throat and choked her. The other count relates to the allegations of slapping the teen.
