Bryant & Stratton to add location on Route 9

The Bluth Company has nearly filled its one and only project in the Capital Region, but not with the likes of the dysfunctional Bluth family of “Arrested Development” fame.

The Bluth Building — a three-story, 34,000-square-foot retail and office building on Route 9 in Malta — has announced its latest tenants. Bryant & Stratton College will occupy the second floor, marking the private career college’s third location in the region.

“We are excited to offer an extension of our Albany campus to serve students with a convenient location in Saratoga County’s growing Route 9 corridor,” said Michael Gutierrez, campus director for Bryant & Stratton College. “In addition to our locations on Central Avenue and Wolf Road, our new location will allow Bryant & Stratton to provide flexibility to our students as they pursue their educational goals.”

Other tenants of the building include a psychology practice and Lansing Engineering, a firm that partnered with Jersen Construction Group to create the Bluth Company LLC. Word has it that founding partner Scott Lansing loved the cult sitcom “Arrested Development” so much that he decided to name his first project at 2452 Route 9 after its notorious family.

“He turned us all on to the show and we loved it and agreed that it would be fitting to name this the Bluth Building,” said David Jersen, of Jersen Construction Group.

The show follows the fictitious Bluths, a wealthy and dysfunctional family that has its assets frozen and its patriarch sent to prison in the first episode. It aired on FOX for three seasons and despite critical acclaim was canceled in 2006. Bryant & Stratton announced its newest location in the Bluth Building just two days after Netflix released a long-awaited fourth season of the show.

Tenants in the medical, banking and food service industries are currently lined up to occupy the first floor, said Jersen.

And for any tenant who doesn’t immediately understand their new location’s name, not to worry, he added.

“If they don’t get it, they will,” he said. “Every tenant gets a box set of the series as a welcome package.”
