Police this morning shot a potentially rabid fox believed to have attacked one person and chased others on Bleecker Street on Monday.

Gloversville Police Sgt. Marc Porter said a resident called in the sighting just after midnight and police found the animal in the vicinity of Bleecker and Lafayette streets.

Porter said the fox broke skin when attacking an unidentified adult Monday, the victim was treated at a hospital and expected to be OK.

The fox was taken to Fulton County Public Health to seek testing for rabies. Porter said that test it could take up to two weeks to learn the results.
