High waters force closure of Jumpin' Jacks, but owner hopes to open by 4 p.m. today

Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In will be closed for part of the day on Friday due to the high levels of the Mohawk River on Friday morning.

High water on the Mohawk River has caused a temporary closure at Jumpin’ Jacks, but owners say they’re hoping to be open by 4 p.m. today.

Heavy rains over the past few days caused the Mohawk to swell to near flood stage in some areas overnight, but the water is receding this morning, according to officials.

Mark Lansing Jr., manager of Jumpin’ Jacks, said they were communicating all through the night with Schenectady County Officials. “We monitored things until 1 a.m.,” he said.

They were prepared for massive flooding but it didn’t happen fortunately. “It didn’t even get to the back of the warehouse,” Lansing said.

The popular take-out place was badly hit by the floods of 2011.
