The College of Saint Rose Board of Trustees announced today that Dr. David Szczerbacki, the ninth president of the college, will be stepping down effective July 1.

Szczerbacki took office on July 1, 2012 and has elected not to renew his contract, according to a press released issued by the college this morning.

In a letter to the College Board of Trustees, Szczerbacki noted personal reasons for his departure.

In his nine-year career at the college, he also served as the vice president of academic affairs and provost.

“We wish Dave all the best,” Daniel P. Nolan, the chair of The College of Saint Rose board of trustees, said in a statement. “And thank him profusely for his nine years of outstanding service to Saint Rose.”

College officials say the Board of Trustees will begin a nationwide search for a new president immediately, but in the meantime Dr. Margaret Kirwin, the vice president of academic affairs, will serve as the interim president.
