Police are searching for missing residents in Fort Plain following flash flooding that inundated much of the village.
Police Chief Robert Thomas said tonight he’s requested a team from the state’s Division of Homeland Security who are specially trained in search and rescue with police dogs.
Thomas didn’t say how many people are missing. He said several small buildings on two particular streets were moved from their foundations or destroyed by the water.
Many of the rivers and streams in eastern New York that flooded have started to slowly recede.
