A man whose raft overturned on the Hudson River near Rockwell Falls has been found dead, state police said today.

Police identified the man as Brian J. Cromie, 42, of Massena. Employees of the Curtis Hydro plant in Corinth found his body and troopers notified his family, police said.

Cromie’s small raft went over the falls near the Hadley-Luzerne bridge on Sunday and he did not resurface, witnesses told police.

Authorities searched the area after the report but then had to suspend their search because of high river levels from recent rains.
