A Friday afternoon accident on Western Avenue claimed the life of a Guilderland woman, police said.
Police said Gertrude T. Dollard, 78, was a passenger in a car driven by William R. Dollard, 83, that turned into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Madolyne O. Palmer, 79, of Oneonta, about 2 p.m. in front of Hamilton Square Plaza. The Dollards’ vehicle was hit on the passenger side and spun around, striking a truck driven by Daniel D. Moore III, 62, of Rensselaer, police said. The Dollards’ vehicle then crossed Western Avenue, coming to rest on an embankment, police said.
William Dollard and Palmer were each taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Gertrude Dollard was also taken to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
No charges have been filed, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Guilderland police at 356-1501.
