The results are in from an online poll initiated last week by the Wandering Dago food truck: 62% of voters said the truck should not change its controversial name.
The name has generated a number of negative reactions since the truck began selling its gourmet sandwiches, soups and salads in the Capital Region in 2011. The word “dago” has a history of being a derogatory term for Italians.
Owners Andrea Loguidice and Brandon Snooks posted the poll results on their Facebook page Monday, noting in the post, “We will take this poll into consideration when making our final decision.”
The Wandering Dago had a contract to serve food during the 2013 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course but Snooks and Loguidice were sked to leave the track July 19th. According spokesman Eric Wing, the New York Racing Association received several complaints about the name of the truck.
