At long last, the Schenectady school board results are in.

School board member Cheryl Nechamen was re-elected with 981 votes. Tanya Hull, who submitted petitions to get on the ballot, also won a seat with 934 votes.

Filling the third seat, with a one-year term, is write-in candidate Dharam Hitlall with 142 votes.

There were at least eight write-in candidates who ran last-minute campaigns when they learned only two people were running for three seats.

The electronic ballot scanners can’t count write-ins, so a team spent three hours at the county Board of Elections last night, hand-counting all the ballots.
