A Vermont woman accused of possessing a loaded handgun and marijuana in January was among five people indicted on various charges Thursday by a Saratoga County grand jury.
Krystal L. Waite, 27, of Pawlet, was arrested when troopers stopped her vehicle on the Northway in Malta on Jan. 20. State police said Waite possessed a loaded Smith and Wesson .380-calibre handgun. The indictment charges her with felony second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation.
In other indictments handed up Thursday:
• Two men were indicted on felony charges of third-degree possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia. Michael E. LaFountain, 31, of Granville, and Joseph Reid, 30, of Brooklyn, were both arrested April 24 in Wilton following a narcotics investigation. LaFountain is also charged with tampering with evidence.
• Lee C. Waterman, 35, of Waterloo, was indicted on two counts of failing to register as a sex offender. He was arrested while living in Saratoga Springs in December.
• Jared Gomula, 28, of Middle Line Road, Ballston Spa, was indicted on felony driving while intoxicated charges. He was arrested June 26, 2013, in Milton.
