The New York State Thruway Authority and New York City’s MTA Bridges and Tunnels are advising its E-ZPass customers to beware of an email phishing scam that attempts to collect unpaid tolls.
The agencies say the emails aren’t an authorized communication from E-ZPass, the Thruway Authority or any other toll agency associated with E-ZPass.
Thruway officials say customers receiving the emails shouldn’t open or respond to the messages and should delete them.
The E-ZPass Service Center doesn’t send out email invoices for payment.
