4th New York tornado from Tuesday storms confirmed

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a fourth tornado touched down in upstate New York during severe storms that killed four people.

Meteorologists say the twister touched down around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in the hamlet of North Creek, in the Adirondacks 70 miles north of Albany. The tornado was rated EF-0 with wind speeds of 85 mph.

Dozens of trees and power lines were knocked down. Some homes were damaged but no injuries were reported.

The same storm system produced three other tornadoes in central New York earlier Tuesday. The worst devastation was in the town of Smithfield, between Utica and Syracuse. Four people were killed and several homes were destroyed or damaged.

Tornadoes were also confirmed in Deerfield, south of Utica, and Lowville, about 55 miles north of Utica.
