A Florida-based company has been awarded the contract to operate catering services and restaurants at the New York State Fair.

The state Department of Agriculture and Markets announced Monday that Tampa-based Ovations Food Service has been awarded the five-year contract, pending approval by the state comptroller and attorney general.

It’s the first time the state has awarded a contract to one vendor to manage all of its permanent food areas at the fairgrounds, located in the Syracuse suburb of Geddes (GEH’-dehs).

The permanent venues are separate from the dozens of concessions that only operate during the State Fair’s 12-day run.

The fair opens Aug. 21 and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 1.

Ovations operates at more than 140 venues in the U.S., including the concessions at NBT Stadium in Syracuse.
