Federal law enforcement officials say a woman tried at least three times to breach airport security before she was able to get through a checkpoint without a boarding pass.

The officials, who would speak only on condition of anonymity because the security breach is being investigated, said Wednesday that Marilyn Hartman bypassed an agent who was screening boarding passes by sneaking through with a family at Mineta San Jose International Airport on Monday.

The officials say Hartman then went through the electronic screening process before entering the airport terminal.

The 62-year-old Hartman is in custody on suspicion of trespassing after arriving on a Southwest Airlines flight to Los Angeles.

Hartman, who is from San Francisco, is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $500 bail.

Her attorney, Elsie Wanton, could not be immediately reached for comment on Wednesday.
