Colonie’s hopes of making it to Williamsport, Pa., for the Little League World Series ended Friday in Bristol, Conn.

Jared Sprague-Lott’s two-run single snapped a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning, and led Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia to a 6-5 victory over Colonie in the Mid-Atlantic Regional semifinals.

Taney overcame a 3-0 deficit to advance to the final.

After stranding two runners in each of the first two innings, Colonie got on the board in the third. Back-to-back doubles by Collin McDonough and Jakob Lemperle gave Colonie a 1-0 lead. Ian Parker’s RBI double made it 2-0.

Colonie could have scored more. It had the bases loaded with one out, but couldn’t drive another run home.

Through four innings, Colonie stranded eight runners on base, including seven in the first two innings. That would come back to haunt Colonie.

Zion Spearman belted a three-run homer in the fourth to tie the score. Taney took the lead in the fifth. Mo’Ne Davis reached base on a one-out error. She went to third Jahli Hendricks’ single. After Hendricks took second on defensive indifference, Sprague-Lott blooped his hit to give Taney the lead. He later scored on Jack Rice’s RBI single.

Lemperle pulled Colonie within one with a two-run homer in the sixth.

The two teams faced each other in pool play Tuesday. Colonie overcame a 3-0 deficit to win, 5-3. This time, Taney turned the tables on Colonie.
