Assailant in vehicle shoots man in legs in Schenectady

A man was shot in the legs Wednesday on Martin Street in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood, police said.

The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

The shooting was just before 9 a.m. on Martin Street, near State Street, police spokesman Lt. Mark McCracken said. The victim was on foot when someone approached him in a vehicle and fired, hitting him in both legs. Police believe the victim was the shooter’s intended target, McCracken said.

The investigation is continuing.
