Funeral services will be held Monday for 25-year-old Wayne Lamar Best Jr., who was shot and killed Tuesday near his home on Parkwood Boulevard in Schenectady.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Daly Funeral Home, located at 242 McClellan St. in Schenectady. The funeral will start at 1 p.m., and stories and remembrances will be shared, according to Best’s obituary. Interment will follow at Vale Cemetery.

Best was born in Staten Island and moved to Schenectady as a child. He graduated from Schenectady High School, where he played lacrosse and made the Adirondack Region’s Empire State Games team in the summer of 2006. He continued the sport while attending Herkimer County Community College. After college, he worked at Plaine’s Bike Shop and Price Chopper.

Best was shot and killed just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday near his home at 1054 Parkwood Blvd. Police continue to investigate his murder.
