Someone fired at least 10 shots at Ellis Medicine’s urgent care center in Clifton Park early Sunday morning, but no one at the medical facility even noticed until Monday, authorities say.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which left the facility with some shattered windows and bullet-pocked walls.

“We’re looking at several leads,” Lt. Jeff Brown said Tuesday. “We’re checking surveillance footage from the area, but there are no arrests pending.”

The shots fired at the Medical Center of Clifton Park hit the side of the building that faces the Northway. The urgent care center, a 24-7 operation, sits on the other side of the building facing Sitterly Road. The rest of the building houses medical offices, which wouldn’t have been open on the weekend.

“Nobody was in the area where the shots were fired, and that’s why we think it didn’t even get noticed until Monday morning,” Brown said.

The shooting likely occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday, a hospital spokesperson said. No one was injured.

The Schenectady-based hospital system is working closely with local authorities as they investigate. It increased its security presence at the facility in response, and is directing patients and staff to follow parking safety guidelines to “ensure every safety precaution is taken,” the hospital spokesperson said in a statement.

Ellis opened the 38,000-square-foot facility just off Northway Exit 9 in October 2012.

No shell casings were found on the scene, making it difficult to determine the type and caliber of gun used. Brown said it’s unlikely it was just some misbehaving kids with a BB or pellet gun, though.

“Based on the damage, we don’t think it could have been a BB gun,” he said. “Some of the windows that were damaged had really thick glass that we don’t think a BB could have shattered.”
