LOWVILLE — Gov. Andrew Cuomo has had to cancel his trip to a popular snowmobiling destination in upstate New York because of the lack of snow.

The staff at the Ridge View Lodge in Lowville in Lewis County says the governor and his entourage had planned to arrive today and rent about two dozen sleds so they could hit the area’s extensive snowmobiling trials.

But with little or no snow in the region, Cuomo has called off those plans.

A year ago this week, the governor visited Lewis County to promote upstate New York’s winter tourism industry. The county contains part of the Tug Hill Plateau, a region popular with snowmobilers because it’s typically New York’s snowiest area.

Local forecasts call for lake-effect snow showers starting Tuesday night and lasting into the weekend.
