A collapsed section of exterior wall at the Glens Falls Civic Center has forced all of the Section II basketball games scheduled there tonight through Saturday to be moved to alternate sites.

The boys’ Class A semifinals between Troy/Averill Park (6 p.m.) and Scotia-Glenville/Amsterdam (7:30) scheduled for today have been moved to Guilderland High School.

Today’s D semifinal between Argyle and Germantown will be played at Stillwater High.

As of late Wednesday night, the boys’ Class A, B, C and D finals, all scheduled for Saturday at the Civic Center, were looking for new sites.

The boys’ Class B semifinals on Friday have new starting times and will be played at Hudson Valley Community College. Schalmont/Voorheesville will start at 6, followed by Hoosick Falls/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at 7:30.

The Class D final was scheduled for 2 p.m., the C final for 3:45, the B championship for 5:30 and the A championship for 7:15 on Saturday at the Civic Center, but Section II will have to find a new spot. HVCC is not available either Saturday or Sunday.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association boys’ basketball semifinals and finals are scheduled for March 20-22.

“We were made aware of the situation at the Glens Falls Civic Center this afternoon,” NYSPHSAA executive director Robert Zayas said in a release.

“We are closely monitoring the situation, and we hope the Civic Center will be deemed a safe and functional venue for the NYSPHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament March 20-22. We anticipate more information to be available in the coming days and will have further comment at that time.”

A strip of wall at the top of the rear facade of the Civic Center on Oakland Avenue broke away and fell to the ground.

No injuries were reported.

The Civic Center is the home of the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League.

The Flames’ next scheduled home game is Tuesday, against Hamilton, and there are games scheduled Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15.
