New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is donning winter gear for a day of cold-weather sports intended to highlight recreational activities in the Adirondacks.
The Democratic governor is joining other state and local officials Sunday for the 2015 Adirondack Winter Challenge, which will include snowmobiling, bobsledding and a variety of ice sports.
The event starts at 12:30 p.m. at the Olympic facilities at Lake Placid. The sporting events will be followed by a dinner and a presentation of awards.
Last year’s winter challenge attracted some 400 participants. Cuomo says the event is meant to remind New Yorkers of the tourism and recreational opportunities in the upstate region.
