One of the Thruway’s two southbound lanes in the Hudson Valley has reopened after a propane tanker crashed and overturned.
State police say the crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday when the tanker and a tractor-trailer jackknifed on an icy stretch of Interstate 87 just south of Exit 21B in Coxsackie, 15 miles south of Albany.
Troopers say the tanker overturned and came to rest on the highway’s left shoulder. Both southbound lanes were closed from Exit 21B to Exit 21 at Catskill until around 7:45 a.m., when one lane reopened.
Police say a second crash around 6:15 a.m. shut down both northbound lanes just north of Exit 20 in Saugerties. One lane reopened soon after the crash and the other reopened by 7:30 a.m.
Troopers say no injuries were reported in the first crash and minor injuries were reported in the second.
