The Capital Region gained 6,200 jobs in the year leading up to February, according to preliminary statistics released today by the state Department of Labor.

The gains brought the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro’s total job count to 452,100 last month, up 1.4 percent from 445,900 last February. Most of the gains were in education and health services, followed by trade, transportation and utilities, and professional and business services.

Fulton and Montgomery counties, which fall just outside of the metro, either lost jobs or were stagnant in the last 12 months.

Fulton County had 17,300 jobs in February, the same as last February. Montgomery County had 18,000 jobs last month, down 1.6 percent from 18,300 one year earlier.

New York state gained 151,800 jobs last month, up 1.7 percent for 9,051,200 jobs total.
