A brutal winter and soggy spring continues to wreak havoc on outdoor sports, as Siena and Cornell have moved a fund-raising doubleheader slated for Tuesday at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown back to Siena’s campus because of field conditions at the Baseball Hall of Fame’s home field.
The doubleheader is to serve as a benefit to the Jack Falvo Foundation Jack’s Place, and as a tribute to the late Courtney Erickson.
Erickson, a 1987 Linton High School grad, was a Cornell grad and longtime Siena backer who covered the Hall of Fame as a free-lance writer. He died in 2013 after battling cancer.
Siena and Cornelll are slated to play a pair of seven-inning games starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Siena. The fund-raiser will still go on, and Erickson’s family will be on hand.
The two teams remain slated to play a doubleheader in Cooperstown in 2016.
